Pre Transfer Meeting is part of the Ship Shore Interface unit of the Caribbean Jetty Operator program. The pre transfer meeting is where the tanker and terminal do the final check before transferring the cargo. Learners are introduced to the ship shore safety checklist and reviewing cargo transfer plans. Learners get guidance on accommodation, deck and engine room checks during the safety tour. Learners ae introduced to loading arms and the emergency shutdown system. Learners are taught the difference between closed transfer and a transfer with venting. Learners are introduced to ballast water management and the international ship and port facility security code.
The most useful practical skills, techniques and capabilities developed will be: how to prepare an inshore boat for port operations, plan and prepare for maintenance of the inshore vessel’s hull and machinery, carry passengers in accordance with best safety practices and prepare a detailed passage plan between ports in the Caribbean Trading Area.

What's in a Post Transfer Operations online course?
Post Transfer Operations is part of the Ship Shore Interface unit of the Caribbean Jetty Operator program. Post transfer operations are mainly about the quality and quantity of the cargo transferred. Learners bare taught the basics of the tank inventory process. Learners are introduced to the grades of oil and gas products and are taught the purpose of the Material Safety Data Sheets and main properties of hydrocarbons for safety and for measurement. Students are taught the basics of calculating LNG volume and calculating the mass of oil. Learners are introduced to cargo documents and sampling oil on ships.
What's in a tanker Vetting and Compatibility online course?
Vetting and Compatibility is part of the Ship Shore Interface unit of the Caribbean Jetty Operator program. Before a tanker calls at the terminal, it has to be vetted by checking previous inspection reports and checked for compatibility with the terminal. Learners are taught about the types of ships that carry liquids in bulk, interpreting ship particulars and inspecting vessel certification. Learners get an introduction to liquefied gas tank types, liquefied gas tanker design and oil tanker design. Learners are introduced to berthing and mooring equipment.
What's in a Phases of Bulk Liquid Transportation online course?
What's in a Cargo Transfer Equipment online course?
Transfer Operations is another small unit of the Caribbean Jetty Operator online program. In the Cargo Transfer Equipment course, learners are introduced to the basics of the main equipment used to transfer liquid cargo. Learners are taught about tanks on tankers, piping arrangements, valves, pumps, manifold connections, cargo monitoring gauges, compressors, inert gas systems and heat exchangers.

What's in a Port and Harbour Operations online course?
The
Port and Harbour Operations unit is large enough to be considered two units
combined. This unit is to prepare the jetty operator for monitoring and
controlling non transfer activities in the port.
The
Entering and Departing Port course is document based and learners get to study:
Pre sailing checklists, Engine room pre operation checklists and Pre arrival
status reports used by ships. Learners see an example of the Berthing Instructions
sent by terminals to ships. Learners are introduced to the Standard marine
navigational vocabulary used by ships, and get an explanation of Navigational
warnings. Learners get a text lesson on draft sounding and under keel
clearance. Learners get a copy of the US Code of signals for use with the Visual
signals used by ships in port approaches video.
Learners
get documents about terminal towing safe work practices. The lesson
on Mooring includes ships’ mooring equipment, mooring hazard identification, risks
and safe work practices. Learners get information about making fast to a
mooring buoy. Learners get documents on safe use of gangways and providing safe
access to the ship. Learners get information on ships’ anchors, anchoring to a
single anchor, anchoring safe working practices, how ships select a position
for anchoring and anchorages around Trinidad.
Cargo
transfers and terminal maintenance are dependent on weather conditions. Learners
are taught the types of weather forecasts, Cloud types and weather map symbols,
Weather systems & precipitation, Interpreting marine weather forecast
vocabulary, Tropical revolving storms, Interpreting tropical weather, Winds and
squalls, Dry season and Rainy season in Trinidad. Terminals have to plan
and execute cargo transfers as well as bunkering operations in the port. Learners
are introduced to the hazards of hydrocarbons, the oil & gas value chain, oil
spills, MARPOL, tanks, piping arrangements and pumps on tankers and oil
pollution prevention.
Tankers, dredgers and workboats have to be vetted before they can operate in the terminal. Learners are introduced to interpreting ship particulars, draught and hull markings, interpreting load line marks, deck cargo stowage planning, safe deck best practice, stability, buoyancy, stability book contents and stability computers.

Caribbean Jetty Operator online training for now and the future.
Ships and boats are being pressured, more than ever, about their harmful emissions. Many ship engine designers are experimenting with alternative fuels for nautical craft. LNG, methanol and ammonia among them. All of which are available in Trinidad. Given that, and our proximity to the Panama Canal, SSNT developed this course with bunkering, as well as terminal transfers in mind.

Vetting and Compatibility - Caribbean Jetty Operator
The Caribbean Jetty Operator program is a foundation level course for working and aspiring jetty operators, loading masters, marine coordinators, process technicians, METs and EEETs. In maritime nations, marine terminals are often manned by former seafarers. The Caribbean does not presently have a stock of former seafarers, so SSNT has produced this foundation program for non seafarers. The program provides the basics in all of the interface aspects of transferring liquids between ships and terminals. The program was developed from OCIMF's Marine Terminal Operator Competency Training (MTOCT), STCW's Basic Tanker Cargo Operations and the CVQ in Marine Terminal Operations.Students must go to ssntjetty.myicourse.com and complete 27 lessons and get 70% in the 20 multiple choice questions following each lesson. The lessons are divided into 5 units. Port and Harbour Operations is two units combined into one. Terminal Layout and Cargo Transfer Operations are two small units combined into one. The other two units are Ship Shore Interface and Terminal HSE management. Call (868)7995394 to sign up.
