Ships and boats are being pressured, more than ever, about their harmful emissions. Many ship engine designers are experimenting with alternative fuels for nautical craft. LNG, methanol and ammonia among them. All of which are available in Trinidad. Given that, and our proximity to the Panama Canal, SSNT developed this course with bunkering, as well as terminal transfers in mind.

The Caribbean Jetty Operator program is a foundation level course for working and aspiring jetty operators, loading masters, marine coordinators, process technicians, METs and EEETs. In maritime nations, marine terminals are often manned by former seafarers. The Caribbean does not presently have a stock of former seafarers, so SSNT has produced this foundation program for non seafarers. The program provides the basics in all of the interface aspects of transferring liquids between ships and terminals. The program was developed from OCIMF's Marine Terminal Operator Competency Training (MTOCT), STCW's Basic Tanker Cargo Operations and the CVQ in Marine Terminal Operations. 

Students must go to ssntjetty.myicourse.com and complete 27 lessons and get 70% in the 20 multiple choice questions following each lesson. The lessons are divided into 5 units. Port and Harbour Operations is two units combined into one. Terminal Layout and Cargo Transfer Operations are two small units combined into one.
