VO Core online

In the LMS, students have access to the navigation and seamanship learning material and also learn IT skills for navigating an application and entering and retrieving information via a screen.  

Boatmasters Guide to Navigating Caribbean Coasts

In the textbook, students have access to the navigation and seamanship learning material and also learn IT skills for navigating printed material and retrieving information.

Coastal Navigation Workbook 1

The navigation workbook contains coastal navigation exercises and students learn how to navigate printed material and input information by writing.

Trainee On board Task book

The Trainee Onboard Task Book contains seamanship and navigation tasks that must be performed under the supervision of certified officers and proof of completion is the initial of the certified officer . Each task must be initialed twice (once each on different vessels or at least 3 months apart). The task book is also an exercise in personal development and communication. The completion of the task book is driven by the initiative of the student. Students are not expected to walk around with the task book in their pocket, but they should know the tasks they need to complete and negotiate with certified officers to get the tasks initialed. 

Advanced Seamanship Project

The Advanced Seamanship Project contains seamanship and command tasks. The Project is an exercise in personal development and communication. The completion of the Project is driven by the initiative of the student. Students are expected to update their list and notes with new useful information they acquire from sources throughout the course up to the time of submission.

The navigation workbook contains coastal navigation exercises and students learn how to navigate printed material and input information by writing.

Personal tutor

A personal tutor is assigned to each student and serves as a coach. Students are encouraged to keep in touch with tutors and vice versa. The student learns how to interact with a person in a role similar to a DPA and Port Captain.
