You can become an effective OJT trainer and assessor, without being held hostage by the NTA

Who can do this course? Whether you’re starting out new to vocational training or you’re looking to build on existing skills, we provide training, coaching and qualifications, regulated by the National Training Agency   to help you succeed.
The SSNT Train the Trainer course is for people who want to observe, support and guide others through their vocational qualification. Trainers may train either in a learning environment, workplace or a combination of both. Trainers are needed in organisations across a range of industries. Trainers have to be able to design and develop learning material, as well as to effectively deliver it. The material covered here leads to several elective units of the vocational assessor course. We treat the ‘train the trainer’ as part of assessment. So you will see the word ‘assessor’ a lot. In this course, you’ll learn how to provide, and assess training.

Deadbeat Training authorities need to call Tyrone

Are you waiting for assessor training and certification from the NTA? We are too. Let's connect and sing for them.
"You’ve been going 20 years, but you only approved 19 centres ….. Call Tyrone!
You have instructors waiting ages to get their Assessor training…….Call Tyrone, (call him!)
Only 10% of SEA students end up with an NVQ……………………….Not good enough
All of your core values are a big fat lie ………………………………..Call Tyrone!

Caribbean Vocational Training Authorities are failing Caribbean youth

Assessors and assessment might actually be the second most important component of vocational training. So any institution that trains and certifies assessors has an important role to play. Trade schools, youth camps and some secondary school departments need assessors to function. So can someone please reply in the comments and tell me why the leader of NTA is getting lifetime achievement awards for Quality Assurance while lots of people cannot get the training and certification? I waited 8 years for training, now waiting 3 months for the certificate. There is an instructor (in the same industry as me) waiting 7 years for assessment. The last assessor training was in June 2022, and they are saying no more training this year. No more? This brings other things into perspective. For example, based on information on the NTA website (and vocational level maths): why have only 19 centres been approved in 20 years? why does the number of certificates issued by the NTA correspond with only 10% of successful SEA students? why are 95% of the certificates issued at level 1? Fix these problems NTA, the nation's youth need assessors.

More Effective Vocational Training is needed in the Caribbean. Training agencies must do better.

Have you been waiting a long time for Assessor training or certification from your National Training Agency? One of us here at SSNT, has been waiting 7 years to get Assessor training. Another guy waited 8 years to get Assessor training, the training took a year to complete, and he is now waiting 3 months to get the certificate. Clearly, CANTA, we have a problem here. Does any reader have a similar experience? Are you waiting unreasonable lengths of time to get Assessor training and certification from the NTA? We, here at SSNT, are very worried about this. We wonder what effect is this having on young society? We have lots of questions about the NTA, but being SSNT, we find innovative solutions.
You can do Assessor training, online, distance learning and with a personal tutor. When you want, from where you want. Here is a sample lesson, contact us for more details about out Assessment Essentials for CVQs course leading to the Assessment Level 4 CVQ.

Outboard Motor Maintenance training - How you will learn to service your engine

How you will learn

Practical Training

You receive instruction in a workshop. You’ll get some time to discuss workshop safety and internal combustion, but the practical demonstrations start on the first morning, and you'll be hands-on by the first afternoon. The groups are kept small to allow sufficient practice time

Presentations

You will see Planning the Boat Trip and Checking Boat Machinery. These lessons cross over with our Vessel Operations Level 2 programme, you are welcome to view the other videos in the LMS. Your personal tutor will provide you with a link to the SSNT OMM LMS at ssnauticaltraining.myicourse.com

Pdfs

Students are provided with SSNT’s OMM HSE Guidelines.which contains job hazard analyses for workshop activities, and the SCV Code’s requirements for outboard motors and open boat: electrical, bilge, fuel and exhaust systems.

Formative Assessments

You must record at least 70% in both assessments to get the unit credit.
